Flooded Medow - Grüner See
The "Grüner See" (engl. Green Lake) is situated in upper styria, austria (see geotag). It is amazingly beautiful because of its deep green/blue colour and the surrounding alpine scenery. The lake itself dries up in autumn but fills up with melting water. The water itself of the lake is extremely pure, like glass. The colour is a result of light refraction.

Molid de 9550 de ani
The world's oldest recorded tree is a 9,550 year old spruce in the Dalarna province of Sweden. The spruce tree has shown to be a tenacious survivor that has endured by growing between erect trees and smaller bushes in pace with the dramatic climate changes over time.
Acum 9500 de ani:
- nu exista scris (cele mai vechi ideograme au 7000 de ani)
- Egiptul nu exista
- cultivarea orzului si graului a inceput in mesopotamia si a aparut berea si painea
- pisicile deabia erau domesticite
- orasul Ierihon avea deja 1000 de ani vechime

GOCE Geoid - the true shape of Earth
After two years in orbit, the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Gravity field and steady-state Ocean Circulation Explorer (GOCE) is nearing the end of its planned life span in February, producing the most accurate map ever of the so-called geoid - an Earth-encompassing spirit level and global reference surface. An unused supply of xeon fuel will allow the mission to be extended until at least the end of 2012.
Markedly different from a simple sphere or ellipsoid, the geoid is the mathematically 'true' shape of Earth. It represents a motionless global ocean but takes into account the effects of the Earth’s rotation, weight difference resulting from the position of mountains and ocean trenches, and uneven mass distribution and density variations in the planet’s interior.
The resulting small variations in the Earth’s gravitational field feature on the geoid as ‘bulbs’ and ‘dips’ in an idealized ‘ocean’ surface.
ESA scientists presented the latest version of the GOCE-derived geoid map – based on eight months of data processed so far – at a user workshop this week in Munich, Germany.

LED cu ratan
aura' by béatrice durandard + océane delain was born from the desire to freshen the
image of traditional basketry and integrate into the home using in a new way.
the craftsmanship, which has existed for thousands of years is used with LED sources
to create a collection of hanging and wall mounted lamps. strands of rattan are replaced
with flexible strips of LED lights during the weaving process, working them directly
into the structure of the object.
aura won first price in 'adream', a european architecture and design contest. a grant was
given to the two french designers to further develop and manufacture the product. the first
prototypes are on currently on exhibit at espace saint-valentin in lausanne, switzerland
until march 13, 2011.

Grow a Green Curtain to Cut Down on Cooling Costs
Across Japan, the Kyocera company has been experimenting with growing huge leaning trellises for food bearing plants, positioned to share the sides and windows of their buildings. They've radically lowered their energy bills—the wall beneath a trellis is, on average, 15 degrees cooler—and even started harvesting the fruit and vegetables from the trellises to use in the cafeteria so employees can enjoy fresh produce grown on site.
