PAPER TORSO with ORGANS by HORST KIECHLE

The paper torso project began in 2011 when I took up a suggestion by Ms. Joanne Nakora from the International School Nadi in the Fiji Islands to design and build a torso with removable organs. 3 months later I had completed a first version and uploaded some images to my Flickr account. In January 2012 My Modern Met blogged about it which led to many requests to make the templates available. Improving certain parts of the design, fitting the patterns to A4 paper and working out how to best write the instructions took about 4 times as long as building the first version. The templates and instructions are available by clicking on the banners below. In the spirit in which this project was started they are available for free. If you manage to complete some of the organs and/or the torso I would appreciate it if you could send me an email or some images of it.

Desene animate rupestre din paleolitic

The cave drawings were found by archaeologist Marc Azema and French artist Florent Rivere, who suggest that Paleolithic artists who lived as long as 30,000 years ago used animation effects on cave walls, which explains the multiple heads and limbs on animals in the drawings. The images look superimposed until flickering torch-light is passed over them, giving them movement and creating a brief animation.

Disney asked Dalí to draw a cartoon, which would be the embodiment of the idea of surrealism, but having been so unusually ordinary viewer, that closed the show and not scooped right up to 2003. using braided strips of colourful fabric. seeing the many cracks and potholes of the city as
the 'canvas' of her project, the site-specific pieces are a playful addition to the grey urban setting.

long lengths of dyed fabrics are braided and then coiled into the shallow breaks in the street.
often made up of a combination of bright colours, the resulting effect creates a graphic and
visually-arresting contrast to the city's palette.

Artist Guildwars - Daniel Dociu

Bio:

Daniel Dociu was raised in Cluj, the capital of Transylvania in Romania. After studying art and architecture, he got his Masters in Industrial Design from the Academy of Fine Arts in Cluj. He moved to the USA in 1990 after spending two years in Athens, Greece, and he has lived in the Seattle area since 1991.
After working as a toy designer for two years, Dociu wisely jumped ship to interactive entertainment. “I’ve been working as an Art Director in the games industry ever since,” says Dociu, “for companies like Squaresoft, Electronic Arts (twice!), and Zipper Interactive. I have done consulting for Microsoft and freelance work for Wizards of the Coast, Digital Anvil as well as a fair share of small developers who have come and gone.” For the past five years, Daniel Dociu has been with ArenaNet, a fully owned subsidiary of NCSoft, in an art director and lead concept artist role. More recently he's stepped into the Chief Art Director role for NCsoft, overseeing visual development for all of NCsoft's North American projects, with particular focus on ArenaNet's Guild Wars 2.

Sweden Solar System

The Sweden Solar System is the world's largest scale model of the solar system. The sun is represented by the Ericsson Globe in Stockholm, the largest hemispherical building in the world. The inner planets can also be found in Stockholm but the outer planets are situated northward in other cities along the Baltic Sea. It was started by Nils Brenning and Gösta Gahm.[1] It is in the scale of 1:20 million.[2]
